What is Unstable Angina ?

In unstable angina, plaque obstruction and blood clots in one or more of the arteries that normally supply the heart (coronary arteries) prevent the heart muscle from getting as much oxygenated blood as it needs. Unstable angina is a type of angina (chest pain) that often has no pattern and is usually worse.
This is a dangerous type of angina pectoris and should be treated immediately. If left untreated, the risk of having a heart attack is greatly increased. Many people who have a heart attack experience unstable angina, fatigue, or shortness of breath in the days or weeks before their heart attack.
