What is Ectopic Pregnancy ?

Pregnancy begins with a fertilized egg. The fertilized egg normally attaches to the endometrium. An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants and grows outside the main cavity of the uterus.
Ectopic pregnancies most commonly occur in the fallopian tubes that carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus. This type of ectopic pregnancy is called an ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies can occur in other areas of the body, such as the ovaries, abdominal cavity, or the lower part of the uterus (cervix) that leads to the vagina.
An ectopic pregnancy cannot be normal. The fertilized egg cannot survive and the growing tissue can cause life-threatening bleeding if left untreated.

You may not notice any symptoms at first. However, some women with an ectopic pregnancy have normal early pregnancy signs and symptoms, such as delayed periods, breast tenderness, and nausea.
I took a pregnancy test and the result is positive. However, an ectopic pregnancy cannot continue normally.

Signs and symptoms become more obvious when the fertilized egg grows in the wrong place.

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg gets stuck on its way to the uterus. This is often because the fallopian tubes are damaged or deformed by inflammation. A hormonal imbalance or abnormal development of the fertilized egg may also play a role.

There is no way to prevent ectopic pregnancy, but there are some ways to reduce the risk:
Limiting the number of sexual partners and using condoms during sex can help prevent sexually transmitted infections. May help and reduce the risk of reducing pelvic inflammation.
No Smoking - If so, stop before trying to conceive.

There are several ways to treat an ectopic pregnancy. In some cases, your doctor may suggest using a drug called methotrexate to stop the pregnancy from growing. Methotrexate is given by your doctor as an injection. This option is less invasive than surgery, but requires a follow-up appointment with your doctor to monitor your hCG levels.

Severe cases often undergo surgery. If a fallopian tube has ruptured or is at risk of rupture, a healthcare provider may want surgery. This is an emergency surgery, a life-saving procedure. This procedure is usually done laparoscopically (through several small incisions rather than one large one). The surgeon can remove the entire fallopian tube with the egg still inside, or remove the egg from the fallopian tube if possible.
